Allan Beswick broadcast on Red Rose Radio (in Lancashire).

He was arguably UK's first "shock jock". If you're a fan of "talk radio"(the genre not the station) then this comes highly recommended.

Wikipedia says "An on-air incident led to his being banned for a period by the Independent Broadcasting Authority for being abusive to a caller." That's funny, because he was abusive to many of his callers!

Here's a whole c90 of highlights. Side A features highlights from the final week of December 1986 and side B covers the first two weeks of January 1987.

Another Ugradio prank. In this one they call some kid from another chatroom who's been distributing warez via ftp. The call goes on for over an hour. Another classic call.

Tony Prince announces Elvis Presley's death on Radio Luxembourg

Radio Luxembourg was the first radio station in Europe to announce Elvis Presley's death.

This recording starts at 10.41pm and you get to hear the last few songs of Mark Wesley doing a chart rundown. The first sign that anything has happened comes at 10.52pm when Wesley tells listeners to stand by for an important announcement. At 11pm Mark Wesley reads the news and announces Elvis's death, and then it's the Tony Prince show. Prince, close to tears at times, devotes his entire show to Elvis, finishing at 3.45am. Unfortunately this recording only captures the first hour.
